How often do you use a printer, take notes in a journal, or draw in a sketchbook. Paper is part of our daily lives but do you ever stop to think about how it’s made?
My professor, Christine Medley, took our class to the printmaking studio and we got to make our own sheets of paper. She had the studio set up and we got a crash course on paper making.
The paper making process is an art of it’s own. I won’t get into all of the details now because I still don’t quite understand it all myself. As I experiment more and familiarize myself with the process I hope I will be able to create something unique to share with you all!
I have a project in mind for my package design class but for now, I’ll take a walk through the paper aisles in the craft stores and appreciate the different weights, colors, and textures.
