Hello! Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is having a great holiday break and enjoying time and relaxing. Once again, I’m writing about a photography project – if you couldn’t guess by now, I really enjoy photography!

For our final, we had to create a photo story. We had to have at least 10 photos, and be able to explain a story through the photos. For mine, I chose ten different songs, and took photos based on the emotions I felt through the songs. This is one of my favorite things to do while creating art. I love basing my art off of music, it gets me very creative. Here are a few of my favorites!

1. “The Party & The After Party” By: The Weeknd

Starting off strong… One of my favorite songs right now, and my favorite photo from the shoot, this picture is based off of “The Party & The After Party” by The Weeknd. This song is quite sexual, but is still a wonderful song. This 7 minute and 39 second song brings you through an intense range of emotions. We weren’t sure exactly how we wanted to capture this song, so we played around and this is what we ended up with. It captures exactly what I wanted to capture and I’m happy with the lighting as well.

2. “Nothing’s New” By: Rio Romeo

This song, is an emotional song – I mean all of the songs I chose bring out a lot of emotion. But, this one specifically is a sad-emotional song. This is the song that inspired this project! I’m sure many of you have heard this song. It makes me feel so much, so much I struggled exactly what I wanted. November was a difficult month for me as I went through a very difficult, personal time. This song brought out so much emotion in me when I was listening to is one day I knew exactly what I wanted to capture. I purposely kept the shot out of focus to give a “distant” feel. As the title suggests, one of the lines constantly repeated in the chorus is “nothing’s new”. The staring off into the distance, and the blank stare was the best way I felt as if I could capture the song.

3. “NEW MAGIC WAND” By: Tyler the Creator

Tyler the Creator! If you know me personally, you know a lot of my art is based on his music. I have done paintings, graphic design and now photography based off of his music, so once again, picking one of his songs was kind of a no brainer. “NEW MAGIC WAND” is an aggressive song with a meaning that many probably wouldn’t have guessed. For this song, I more focused on the lyrics rather than the lyrics. This picture specifically reminds me of the first few opening seconds

For this song, I was able to capture two photos that I really liked. For this second photo created some graphics to go along with it. Here is the graphic below.

4. “Nights” By: Frank Ocean

Those of you who are visual people, you might understand what I’m about to say. “Nights” by Frank Ocean is a very visual song. It’s a 5 minute, 9 second song with an intense beat drop and entire “vibe” change. I knew what I wanted to depict graphically when I took this photo. I used purple lighting for this photo, and edited it to my liking.
