Time for Art Goals!

I hope everyone’s winter break is going great so far! I had been excited, like everyone else, to go into hibernation. Well, at least for a few days. I couldn’t help but feel like I had to get back into drawing after a couple of days. I refrained from drawing to get rest; I suppose my anxious, overachieving side feels the need to keep working- I’m sure someone reading this can relate. However, I have noticed that the constant need to work has led me to burn out frequently. So, I have been practicing taking breaks.

Well, I think I have taken enough rest, so.. now moving on to setting up goals for next year!

More specifically, art goals. I have been trying to find where to start working on my art. Perhaps fixing the anatomy (I tend to draw inhumanely long limbs on my characters) or bringing more diversity in my art since I have noticed I tend to draw similar characters.

I have been looking into some of the recent semester’s works and seeing where to improve. I saw so many great works of my classmates in my typography and illustration classes that have further motivated me to continue practicing.

I hope this might inspire someone to list things they currently find challenging to draw but want to learn. It can be any area of art (or outside of that), like learning a different medium, improving anatomy, understanding color theory, communicating better with visual and environment illustrations, etc. I think it is a great time to create new art goals with the soon ending of this year, so here’s to learning something new for the brand new year!

Thank you for reading!
