Hello everyone! In this weeks’ blog, I will be talking about where you can get inspiration from when you are looking to get started on a new illustration, painting, or anything for that matter. Inspiration can come in many forms.
Your Emotions

This may sound weird, but one of the ways of getting inspiration is by digging deep into your emotional thoughts. When you are in the middle of a lot of emotional responses going through your head, that’s the best time to get creative and release them onto paper. For example, if you are upset about something that has recently happened to you, get your sketchpad out or your canvas and start creating something out of that emotion you are feeling. Even if it’s just a few lines or abstract shapes, it’s still an outlet you can use to get inspired to draw, paint or even write something about. This can also be the best coping mechanism for people who have a difficulty expressing their own emotions to people.
Film/Media

You can get so much inspiration from film and media. There are so many movies, TV shows, anime, and cartoons out there and you can get inspiration from all of these things. For example, you can pick your favorite movie and make yourself as a character in that particular movie or you can do the same with your favorite TV show, anime, or cartoon. You can even pick your favorite video game and make an environment, character, or art piece inspired by already created characters of that game. There are endless possibilities.
Music

Music definitely can be an inspirational media. Different types of music genres can give inspiration or creative ideas whether it’s rock, classical, instrumental, pop, R&B, or a soundtrack. Listen to your favorite song and create something from that or redesign your favorite album. Pick your favorite musical artist and design a piece from the songs they wrote. There are many different routes you can go.
No matter where you look, there is always a new idea waiting to be hatched and inspiration waiting around the corner. Next time you feel stuck, just remember that we have all gone through a block in creativity and it sucks, it really does. However, there are ways to get it back and inspire yourself to create something that moves people to their core.
