Portfolio Website

We all know the importance of a resume, the sheet where we show the best of us, hoping to impress the person reading it. Well, for us artists, a resume is not the only way our employer/clients get to know us. Arguably, a portfolio is even more of a reflection of an artist. Therefore, recently, I have been looking around for websites that could help me build my website for free.

It is a lot more common and more accessible these days to use social media as a form of portfolio. Many showcase their works on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Art Station, DeviantArt, and Artful- to name a few. However, websites are great home pages from which you can send people to all these platforms.

It also made me feel professional as I watched my website appear when I typed my name.
When I first made my website through Squarespace, It was easy and quick. It also allowed me to set up a shop easily if I were to start selling my art prints and stickers. I think Squarespace is great, although it does cost a bit. This became why I discontinued my website, and after a few months, I decided to re-make it.
I learned from my past mistakes and searched for ways to make it for free. I decided to use Wix, another well-known option, but I gave up after it kept lagging…(I know I wasn’t very patient).

work in progress for my website

I am now using Canva to design my portfolio from scratch, which is a bit messier and more complicated than I thought, but nothing a quick YouTube search can’t help. Canva has templates you can use for free if you don’t want to put yourself through headaches like me.
So far, I have not gotten much done, but I hope to finish it by next week at least. I will make another update post on it and perhaps go into more detail on how I set it up (also saying that so I would hold myself accountable for completing it).

Thank you for reading!
