Post Inlay

Its almost done! I’ve been writing about my big project in jewelry for a while now but I’m finally on the last few steps to completing it. The step I’m on now is probably the most complicated. Inlay is the process of cutting shapes out and then replacing the empty shape with a different kind of metal. I decided to do copper moon phases in brass which will then be hammered into a cuff. The part that is difficult is trying to solder the pieces into place. It is a delicate process but I’m very excited to see the outcome.

Unfortunately this semester is almost over so it’s a race against the clock to get this piece finished. The cuff that I’m making has all of the requirements that I had to meet this semester which includes: soldering, inlay, stone cutting, stone setting, and casting. Even though it’s taking a while to complete I’m still on track!
