Practice doesn’t make perfect

My high school track and field coach used to say “There is always room for improvement” and I apply it to my life every day no matter what I’m doing. Practice doesn’t make perfect but there is no need to worry or lose your motivation because practice makes better.

Before tackling my alligator tessellation I wanted to practice carving linoleum at a smaller scale than I’m used to. I sketched out a quick flower to practice my line work and detail. My hand slipped a couple of times and eventually I lost all the detail I was trying to make but I think it should still make a pretty good print.

I’m going to make a couple more doodles to practice on before I make any tessellations because I wan’t those to look their best.
