Often when I’m sketching, I expect results. I think to myself, “I want at least ONE of these drawings to be successful.” But honestly, going in with this mindset only makes the drawing experience stressful, and honestly, unrealistic. Practicing something never means that you’re going to master it right away. And, expecting to get a good result right away is only setting yourself up for failure. Instead of expecting to get ‘at least one’ successful piece out of each drawing/painting/whatever session, acknowledge the PRACTICE that you’re getting. And if you really hate the results, there’s always a recycling bin around somewhere.
