Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all been doing well! It’s been a busy couple of weeks for me. I’ve had family at my house, been finishing up my summer classes, and been getting in all of my last hangouts with friends from home. So, needless to say, I haven’t gotten around to much art making, but I have done some planning for when I get back to the studio!
I’ve been doing some sketches of things I want to make, and making notes of any hacks I see on my Instagram feed as we get closer to the fall semester. There’s so many things I want to try out! I’ve also been thinking about my senior show and trying to get an idea of what I want to include in that, and what I want to make in preparation for it as well! There’s a lot to think about. I’ll show you a few examples of some things I want to make during the fall, definitely not all of them, but a couple of the random things!
I have a lot of people looking for mugs, so I plan on making a good amount of those. I drew out a couple different handle shapes because that’s the part I struggle with the most. I’m hoping to make a good variety of them! I also want to keep experimenting with lighthouses, but maybe start giving them more function, as I have with my jewelry display lighthouse. I drew out sketches for my improved ideas as well, so those will definitely be in production as soon as I get back. I also have a couple of chip and dip bowl designs because I love making big bowls and I think those would be fun for me. And then the little circles on the bottom are my plans to make little pots. Eventually, when I do art shows and fairs, I would love to have a little mini pottery bauble machine so there’s a fun mystery for people that don’t have space for large pottery but still want to participate. I also love making mini pottery, so this would give me a reason to make it! The last thing on this page is little price tags. Because the surface of glazed ceramic is glass, it doubles as a dry-erase board, so I can use the surface of the little tags to write prices for my pottery. This way they’re reusable, and I don’t have to put any sort of sticker on my piece. There’s plenty more ideas like lighthouse lamps, hanging lamps, lidded jars, more large bowls, and much more, but I would be here all day talking about the endless ideas I have!
Other than my planning, I just got some business cards in the mail! Since I finally got my website completed, I was able to make business cards that were completely up to date. I’m excited to have somewhere to direct people when I make a sale on my pottery!
