Sticker Effect

Hello and welcome back! I have not been feeling artistic lately as I’m sick so I have been in bed majority of my day. With that being said, I was feeling pretty inspired to make doodles and then turn them into sticker effects.

I consider a sticker effect to be where you take a drawing and make it look like a sticker on your page, so keep that in mind. I first saw this idea on Pinterest a year ago, and so I thought I would try it myself. Turns out it’s really fun and really cute, did I mention it’s also really easy?!

Well, I’m going to take you with me as I show you step by step on how I make my sticker effect. If you’re reading this and happen to have some materials near you, come along with me and give it a try!

First you start with the materials you would like. I used Crayons and a pen. (see if you can guess what I’m making for my sticker just based off these colors) I’m just using Crayola crayons and a Sharpie gel pen, you don’t need fancy materials to make a beautiful art piece! (later on I will need a pencil, any pencil will do. it’s just for shading, which you can also just a crayon for)

From here all you have to do to start is to add a light outline of your desired object. I chose a lemon so I took a light yellow and outlined my shape. Afterwards you block in some color. I used my color wheel knowledge and added a light purple to where I wanted it to be darker with some shadows.

After I liked how my shading was looking, I added a dark yellow on top of the purple and little off the purple to blend it into the lighter yellow. Once I added a darker yellow, I went in with the light yellow and colored the whole object.

Once I had the whole lemon colored, I added in some yellow-orange and dark yellow around the edges to give dimension.

Next to make our sticker effect, I took my black pen and outlined the lemon shape, leaving some room between the edge of the lemon and my outline.

Finally, from my last step, I took a number two pencil and lightly shaded along that outline I just made to create a shadow effect. This is what makes the finished piece look sticker-like.

The pieces I have done throughout this summer have been pretty much one medium per artwork. Even though I did use a pen and a pencil for this piece, I still counted as one medium.

I also dabbled with other fruits and made more sticker effects!! Maybe you’ll find some inspiration around your house and make an object with a sticker effect!

It has been so fun to make art throughout the summer and share it with all of you. I hope you enjoyed this one and maybe you can try it on your own.

As the summer comes to an end and I have to get ready to pack for the school year, I think all of you were joining me in my creations this summer.

That’s all for now, I hope your last few days of summer are really good!!
