These past 2 weeks I have been preparing for my senior art show later this month! It is hard to believe that this is the last semester of my bachelor’s degree in Art Therapy! I can’t fathom how quickly the time has passed. I want to make sure that I have enough pieces to showcase for everyone to see all that I have learned and created in the ceramics studio these past 4 semesters, so I have been hard at work making my final pieces to show.
Most recently, I made a mold of chicken feet that I sculpted so that I could quickly add them to my pieces since that is the step that always takes me the most time. Another perk of this mold making method is that they are much sturdier! I made sure to make them thicker so there would be no more breaking in the kiln! My only wish is that I had done this sooner! Every day when I come in I pour another mold so now I have many chicken feet to add to my cauldrons and huts as I create them. This is the first cauldron that I made with the new style of feet and I like how it looks so far.

I also made one more mini Yaga Hut so I will have 3 huts to exhibit at the senior show! I wish I could make more but this is a project I can continue to work on for the rest of my life and hope to do so! I am happy that the feet look and feel more sturdy, and I think they also add a lot of character. Another thing I changed was the window designs, I like these ones because they are bigger and I hope that more light shines through when there is a candle burning inside.

I still feel like I have tons to do but I’m feeling on the right track and making sure to keep a list of goals and tasks so I don’t get overwhelmed. I only have a few more days to make anything new in the studio so that it will be dried and bisque-fired in time for the show so all week I have been at the studio as much as I can. I am so excited to show my art and see it all together in a gallery setting as well as talk to people about it and see what they think.
