Setting Myself a Challenge

Hey guys! How are you?

I recently was surfing the internet and saw a post from Inktober saying that you could be chosen for being a part of artists who could take over their Instagram page for the month of October. For those who don’t know about Inktober, it’s a monthly long challenge that goes throughout those 31 days where artists make drawings with ink. They are allowed to use pens, dip pens, markers, and other forms of ink. It’s really a challenge to get artists drawing every day, or at the very least, more often.

Lots of artists participate, and they create challenges, as well as share and participate with other artists, really bringing communities together. It’s also a lot of fun!

So, in order to participate with the contest, I played around with my pens once again. I had almost forgotten how much I love pens and inking! With this challenge, I also went ahead and drew something to go with the #drawthisinyourstyle challenge that is going around on Instagram! This is a fun one because it involves others drawing your picture, putting their spin. Of course, you can also go ahead and draw what others have done and placed in the tag and reinterpret it in your own style. I picked a king and queen type character set because I’d just finished reading a book with a fairy tale feel.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun to play with pens again, and I loved hatching and varying my line weights. I now carry my pen around in my bag with a little sketchbook in case I get an itch to draw! Here’s my drawing!

Hopefully soon I will be seeing more challenges to come my way, so I’ll let you guys know if I find any more of them!
