Simple Forms

Sometimes when I get caught up in a painting I try to “fill up” the space with to much visual information. I don’t want my paintings to be overwhelming to look at. So depending on the situation I will start to simplify the forms within the space until I come up with an interesting composition. Easier said then done… and bittersweet. Wiping out half of your painting could be helpful by allowing you to see things in a different way; or it could result in painting the whole thing white and starting over. Either way I like that it keeps the process of painting alive and fresh.
