Hello everyone! The semester is almost over and I would like to show you one of my last few projects I have been working on. I recently received a new project that was designing desktop wallpaper for Smashing Magazine‘s monthly competition. I had a lot of fun creating illustrations for this project. It also was a a project that you had to pay attention to every little detail. We had to create over 20 different resolutions, and create two versions of each resolution.

Our designs were created for the month of May 2018. What inspired me about May is the warm happy feelings that come with the start of summer. I decided to focus on three key aspects: travel, nature, and warmth. To illustrate these three aspects I choose three objects.

1. First I used a bee, which also gave me the title “What’s the Buzz.” The bee I would use to show the sounds and smells of summer. Hearing bees buzz around, flying from flower to flower is something I really look forward to in the month of May.
2. My second key illustration was a passport. Illustrating this was meant to key in on travel. It is the time of the year people are getting ready to travel or are already on trips.
3. Lastly, I used sunglasses. These glasses represent the warmth of summer that is coming. Living in NEPA, it is something we all look forward too.

It was a lot of fun to find out my wallpapers were chosen as one of the winners for the month of May, you can check it out at the Smashing Magazine website.

I had a lot of fun creating these, and I plan to create more for upcoming months to submit to Smashing Magazine.
