Spring at McDonald’s!

At the Mueller Family owned McDonald’s locations, Elizabeth Gething is bringing a splash of color by painting the window’s of their establishments this spring.

Elizabeth Gething is an artist and employee at Old Forge McDonald’s. She is currently in her sophomore year majoring in Art Therapy and minoring in Psychology. Last December, she was tasked with painting on the windows to bring in the Christmas cheer. Scenes she painted ranged from The Nightmare Before Christmas at Old Forge, Gnomes building a Snowman at Southside, and a snow covered town filled with charming houses at Northside Scranton. This spring she is painting scenes that are more in her style of pastels and florals.

In the Old Forge location she has made flowers abound with easter eggs cradled by leaves. A giant kingly peep sits nobly atop his deflating grass throne. Gething paints in a very smooth way so that her subjects all have a bouncing, bubbly look to them. The modeling on the peep in particular makes him look pleasantly plump, the 3/4 profile view enhancing his stately presence. In other locations, such as Wyoming or NorthSide, familiar characters such as Snoopy and Woodstock from Peanuts and Stitch from Lilo and Stitch greet customers with spring cheer and bunny ears.

Besides painting windows at the Mueller Family McDonald’s locations, Gething is exploring other mediums like stained glass. She enjoys the interplay between light and color, as well as the precision it takes to work with stained glass itself.

You can find images of her work down below or at any of the McDonald’s locations listed above. To read more about Elizabeth Gething, click the link below to read an article by another blogger spotlighting her and her work: https://wherecreativityworks.com/student-spotlight-elizabeth-gething/
