Some great news has graced the JOJO’s Bizarre Adventure fandom:
The adaptation of PART 7: Steel Ball Run is soon to be released!
Stepping back, JOJO’s Bizarre Adventure is an extraordinary popular manga created by Hirohiko Araki. The first part of his series that explores the Joestar lineage first debuted in 1987. Since then, he’s created a total of eight completed parts, and is currently publishing his ninth part. His work has made him a titan in the world of art, storytelling, and mangakas. His work is so beloved, it’s even been displayed at the Louvre!
Because of Araki’s prominence, his works have been adapted into anime for wider audiences to enjoy. The most recent adaptation, PART 6: Stone Ocean, finished airing December 1, 2022. And now, coming out in 2026, Steel Ball Run will be joining the lineup of adaptions! It is exclusively coming to Netflix, so there is a chance it will have a batch release rather than a weekly release.
The reason this news is so important is because Steel Ball Run is regarded as one of the best JOJO parts ever made. Its story follows a young man named Johnny Joestar – a man chained to his wheelchair after a tragic incident where he was shot in the spine. Johnny, now apathetic and depressed, finds himself at the nation’s most exciting event. The announcement of the Steel Ball Run Race brings the nation into uproar. This race is a cross-country event from San Diego to New York City. The grand prize of this dangerous excursion is 50 million dollars! Not to mention, this story takes place in the 1800s, so counting for inflation, ‘das a lot of money!
I’d really recommend keeping an eye out for the release of this anime. You don’t need to watch any of the previous seasons/parts to understand this one. Steel Ball Run is a universe reset, which means that the lineage previously explored in Parts 1 – 6 are no longer present (to some extent, if you know, you know.) So feel free to hop right into this and enjoy yourself a good ole’ western tale!
