Being back in school has made my schedule pretty crazy again. Any free time I have is dedicated to doing work, most of which I actually like. Taking four art classes this semester has definitely kept me busy, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed all of the projects I’ve done so far, but I’ve come to realize that sometimes you just need a break from required artwork.
Even if you’re doing work that you like in class, there’s just something about doing something for fun instead that helps keep you a little more sane. To stick with a trend I started this past summer, I try to keep a sketchbook near me at almost all times. So when I’m worrying over steadily approaching due dates and minor creative blocks, I can just doodle away to relieve stress. Not only does it help give me a little break, but I also get a new piece of work out of it!
