Student Spotlight: Alex Shields

Meet Alex!

Name:  Alex Shields

Year you’ll be graduating: Class of 2024

Major: Graphic Design

I am majoring in Art because art is something that I have been doing my entire life. I knew it was a passion from a young age, and I wanted to pursue something that makes me feel extremely happy and fulfilled.

The kinds of things that inspire me are music, nature, and my everyday experiences inspire me

My favorite class so far has been Professor Medley’s Digital Design class. It’s great to have a teacher that takes the time to show even the smallest of things. She allows us to use our endless creativity in the projects.

When I’m not in class I’m always doodling or pouring through vinyl records

The coolest thing I’ve done so far is look through the gallery in the Shields Center. Seeing the professors work that was on display was fascinating, and allowed me to see how talented the Marywood faculty is.

When I graduate I want to partner with my closest friends to create, and build up a media company.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the faculty is extremely talented and encouraging, and the art buildings are beautiful and create the perfect ambience to create.

The best spot to be on campus personally, I think is the Insalaco Art Center. I spend a lot of time there, and it’s become the staple building of my studies. The big windows and multiple floors allow for you to view the gorgeous campus while creating art.
