Student Spotlight: Alyssa Smith

Student Name: Alyssa Smith

Year You’ll Be Graduating: 2022

Major: Art Therapy

I am majoring in Art because: Art is something I am very passionate about; all my life I knew that I was going to have a career in something art related.

The kinds of things that inspire me are: Sunsets, nature walks and sunny days and the beach are some of the few things that inspire my work. Needless to say, I cannot wait for the summer time.

My favorite class so far was: Two dimensional design. I loved coming up with and creating different types of designs and textures for each project.

When I’m not in class:I tend to go on walks while listening to music to try and find some inspiration.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far was: Working in the wood shop, using the bandsaw and sander was certainly a fun learning experience.

When I graduate: I plan to further my education and go to graduate school, and receive my masters degree in art therapy.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because: The studio professors are amazing. Every professor that I have had thus far made sure to go out of their way the help me with any issues that I had with my work.

My favorite medium: is water colors. I absolutely love how fluid water colors are and how if you make any number of mistakes you can easily take them out with water.
