Student Spotlight: Atena Mojibian

Atena and I met before she was even an art major, and I’m glad to say she made a good decision to further her love for photography and the arts!

Meet Atena!

Name: Atena Mojibian

Year: Class of 2022

Major: Photography

Minor: Art History

I am majoring in Art because I have had a love for all types of art since I was a kid. Throughout my years in high school that I took art classes, I started to gain a great passion for photography especially developing film pictures and shooting with digital cameras. With my degree, I hope to gain more knowledge about the field and have the ability to expand my capabilities with photography.

The kinds of things that inspire me are mostly sports photography, portraits or different kinds of landscapes/buildings that involve architecture.

My favorite class so far was my advanced black and white photography because we get to work with old 4×5 film cameras and go through the process of capturing the picture and learning how photographers developed those types of negatives and make prints.

When I’m not in class I’m hanging out with my sisters from Zeta Phi Delta, at swim practice, spending time with friends, or getting over concussions!!

The coolest thing I’ve done so far at Marywood was having the opportunity to join and get involved in a vast variety of different activities and/or clubs. This has not only allowed me to branch out and meet so many people but also to have the ability to reach out to different friend groups when I need them.

When I graduate I hope to work for a major sports team (the Philadelphia Eagles) taking pictures on the sideline during games or possibly even starting my own business.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because students get the ability to experiment with many different art classes which will give you the capability to expand as an artist, go on field trips to museums and art galleries, whether they are on or off campus and much more.

The best spot to be on campus is in my opinion, anywhere on campus. Even though our campus is on the smaller side compared to other schools, we have so many different places where you can go and spend time either with friends or alone. As long as you surround yourself with people that are going to allow you to be your best self and allow you to grow as a person then that is all that’s important.
