Student Spotlight: Felicia Garcia

Hey guys! This week we are talking to Felicia Garcia! I had 3d design with her last semester, and she always had some great and creative ideas for each of our projects!

Meet Felicia!

Felicia Name: Felicia Garcia Class of 2020

Major: Graphic Design

Minor: Illustration

I am majoring in Art because…

In high school when I was suppose to be taking notes, I was the one who doodled on the sides of my notes. I was always drawn to art. Ha get it. it’s a pun, but really though I was always creative and wanting to create something.

The kinds of things that inspire me are…

Street art, the 90s style is so dope, a lot of different things to be honest. Music might be a big influence though.

My favorite class so far was…

3D design with Dennis Corrigan. Hes such a chill dude, great instructor, and gives off some good vibes during class.

When I’m not in class…

I’m usually either hanging out with my friends, working on future projects, or in my room binge watching Netflix till I forget about the world around me.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far was…

Being able to go to Christine Medley’s studio, The Workshop, and working with the letterpress for a typography project. It was a pretty great time, super interesting and requires so much patience. Other than that I’m not cool. That’s a lie, I’m pretty rad.

When I graduate I…

Will probably look into moving out to Philadelphia and working in an agency. Philly’s pretty rad, there’s always a lot going on there and the art scene is so cool.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because…

It’s extremely helpful, all the instructors are so informative and always there when you need them.

Who is your favorite artist and what about them inspires you the most?

I follow this woman on instragram that goes by @fireflyfiphie all her stuff is so cool, very organic line work, some colleges and with every drawing there’s a poem to go with it. Her stuff is so cool, I love how real and unfiltered and imperfect her stuff is.

Here are two examples of Felicia’s work:

Thanks for sharing Felicia! Have a great week, and until next time keep creating!
