Welcome back everyone! I can’t believe this semester is practically over. I felt like this semester flew by with a lot more different experiences than I have before. I was able to meet a bunch of new artists through this blog and furthered my experience as an artist here at Marywood. This week’s artist caught my eye in a couple of different classes I’ve had with her these past few semesters. More specifically, our Basic Drawing class with Prof. Kevin O’Neill. I remember how much I appreciated her smooth and clean drawings from our critiques in class. Lucky for us, she included some of these drawings in this week’s blog. From her accurate observation drawings to her digital creations, I really enjoyed seeing her style develop in the classes I’ve had with her. This creative artist is…
Jayden Evans
Major: Graphic Design
Minor: N/A
Year: 2027
Clubs: N/A

I am majoring in Art because…
I have a passion for creative expression. Art has always been a way for me to express myself and emotions. I love how art allows me to connect with other people on a deeper and personal level. I also love the process of creating art. I enjoy all of the parts of the creative process from brainstorming to completing a finished piece.
What excites me most about art is…
The endless possibilities. Art is limitless, it can be anything you imagine. You can push the boundaries and explore new things constantly. There are no rules or restrictions on art. The freedom to explore different forms of art is also exciting. Trying new styles, techniques, and mediums is always exciting.

The kinds of things that inspire me are…
Imagination, personal experience, and music. My imagination leads me to create unique pieces and come up with new design ideas. Personal experiences also give me inspiration by allowing me to express emotions from pivotal moments in my life. Music is a huge part of my inspiration for art and my life in general. Whenever I am creating something, I listen to music. Sometimes, lyrics or rhythms from a song spark an image in my mind and I will translate that into my art. All of these inspirations blend together as well and support each other in my creative process.
My favorite art class so far has been…
Digital Design with Prof. Sue Jenkins. This class was so much fun! I got to create a variety of projects that allowed me to use my imagination and creativity. Designing products and creating advertisements for the products I created was so cool. Digital Design also allowed me to work more on my skills that pertain to my major. I am definitely looking forward to having more classes like this in the future.

When I am not in class…
I love to read, listen to music, and draw on my own time. Reading allows me to escape into different worlds and offers a temporary escape from reality. Books also help expand my imagination and creativity. Drawing for my own enjoyment is also a fun hobby. With all of my schoolwork it can sometimes be hard to draw without it being for a school project, so when I find the time to draw for my personal pleasure it’s always a great experience. Lastly, listening to music and finding new songs is my all time favorite thing to do. I am constantly listening to music throughout the day no matter what I am doing.
The coolest thing I have done at Marywood so far was…
learning from classes and classmates. I love learning about art and the creative process. I have learned so much about art and it is only my second year at Marywood. Not only have I learned from my teachers, but I have learned so much from my classmates. I absolutely love seeing my classmates’ work and what they create.

When I graduate…
I want to have a career in graphic design. I want to build a career where I can work on diverse projects and even collaborate with others. I would love to create advertisements, logos, product designs, and so much more.
My favorite beverage to sip on during the holidays would be…
Water! Sounds boring and sad but I love water and it’s all I pretty much drink!

I hope you all enjoyed this week’s artist’s creations and this past semester just as much as I have! I really appreciate how Jayden emphasizes art and all its possibilities. Having this type of mindset in the graphic design field and pretty much any art field is key to finding your own style within the vast world of art. I would have to say Jayden has found her style to drawing with her wispy, soft compositions in this post and look forward to see where her graphic style goes in the future. That being said my final projects and study sessions are unfortunately calling me away from this fun blog post. Have an awesome Christmas break that’s coming up and good luck on Final’s week!
