This weeks Student Spotlight features another new face to the Art Department, freshman illustration major Jessica Reid!
MEET JESSICA:
Name: Jessica Reid, Class of 2020
Major: Illustration
I am majoring in Art because the idea of inspiring someone else by them just taking a glimpse at something I made is just exhilarating. I also was encouraged to follow my passion by my family and teachers.
The kinds of things that inspire me are listening to music, watching movies, and just surrounding myself with other creative and interesting people.
My favorite class so far is my basic drawing class because of the helpful techniques and insight into the design and composition process.
When I’m not in class I’m trying to spend as much time as possible outside, sketching, or taking to friends.
The coolest thing I’ve done so far was accepting the Marywood talent award at the Wallkill Valley Annual Invitational Art Show.
When I graduate my plans are to move to New York City and work while being surrounded by a crazy new environment with endless opportunities.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because of the impressive and knowledgeable professors and because it is in a very nice area with a beautiful campus.
SOME OF JESSICA’S WORK:
Thank you Jessica for being the Spotlight of the week! Your art is so inspiring, so a job well done! You exhibited so much variety in your work just through the pictures you provided for this post. I could only imagine what the rest of your peices looks like. Classes like basic drawing really do help more than you could ever imagine and further develop the skill set of an artist, I know they did for me as well. These will only add to your beautiful portfolio and inhance your natural talent!
Later!
