Hi again! This week we have Joanna Murray. Joanna is a second semester freshman who is majoring in Art Education. Joanna loves the art department at Marywood and wants to use the education she receives here to someday teach high school art.
Meet Joanna
Name: Joanna Murray, Class of 2020
Major: Art Education
I am majoring in Art because it has always been the one thing I am truly passionate about. I want to be able to share how wonderful art is through teaching others.
The kinds of things that inspire me are reading novels, trying new hobbies, and the people around me.
My favorite class so far was Basic Drawing because I learned drawing techniques that were never introduced to me before in my high school art lessons that I feel are vital to me moving forward as an artist.
When I’m not in class I am at my job so I can continue to fund my expensive passion for the arts.
The coolest thing I’ve done so far was help paint a mural at one of my hometown community buildings.
When I graduate I hope to have a happy career as an art teacher in a high school that appreciates the worth of art.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because it is welcoming to all artistic ideas and fields of interest. The professors are supportive and welcoming to new techniques. I could not think of a better place to further my growth as an artist than the Art Department at Marywood University.
