Name: Jorge Correa
Year you’ll be graduating: Class of 2024
Major: Art Therapy
I am majoring in Art because it’s been a fun pastime in my life for as long as I can remember. Being able to create expressive and visually distinctive pieces has always been something I’ve been fond of, and I’ve been doing it since early in my childhood, when other kids thought you were amazing for being able to draw at all.
The kinds of things that inspire me are the varying aesthetic works I’ve seen in my life. Many styles encompassing very different feels and tones are always intriguing, and while I’m personally more compelled by the abstract and unusual, simpler and more charming designs really put me in a mood to create art. I love to think about creative ways to express emotion when I see what inspires.
My favorite class so far was Psychology. I know it’s not an art course, but I personally really like Psychology. It kind of has a big prominence in my life through how many experiences I’ve had related to it.
When I’m not in class I’m probably just trying to make friends, sometimes I’m playing games or watching videos on things that interest me. I love synthpop, alternative and indie music and I might be listening to that. I enjoy art a lot, though I don’t find myself to be a fan of repetitively practicing because I don’t want to burn out quickly.
The coolest thing I’ve done so far at Marywood was win an online esports Smash tournament here and get $250 in Amazon Gift Card credit, that’s pretty cool.
When I graduate, I want to be out there helping people in the world feel better through comforting talks and expression through artwork.
The best spot to be on campus is the Learning Commons, it feels the most cozy, and it usually has a couple people around.
