Student Spotlight: Olivia Osborne

Hi there! This week we have sophomore, Olivia Osborne. Olivia is often inspired by the city of Scranton and its landmarks. She also enjoys painting to create prints for her Etsy shop.

Meet Olivia:

Name: Olivia Osborne, Class of 2019Headshot

Major: Graphic Design

I am majoring in Art because: Art has always held a special place in my heart. I was always that student in high school that was hanging out in the art rooms whether I had class or just some sort of free time in my day. Without art, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, it has and always will be the back bone to my success in life.

The kinds of things that inspire me are: The local Scranton landmarks are something that I love to paint and sketch, especially the electric city sign which is one of my favorite things to recreate. Also, all things Lilly Pulitzer. Lilly has inspired me to bring out my inner girly girl thus creating my “mock” Lilly prints which I sell on Etsy.

My favorite class so far was: 3D Design. My classmates and professor worked to motivate each other to create wonderful pieces of art.

When I’m not in class: When I’m not in class I am most likely working on a painting while watching Netflix.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far was: designing the 2015 Scranton St. Patrick’s Day Parade t-shirt logo.

When I graduate: I hope to continue doing what truly makes me happy such as working on various art projects. My ultimate goal is to work for Lilly Pulitzer designing new prints for their clothing line and accessories.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because: Here at Marywood there are a variety of different majors and minors within our art departments that would allow anyone with a passion for the arts to thrive in such an inviting community of professors and students.

Thank you for sharing your work with us, Olivia!

Until next time!
