Name: Sean Sacco
Year you’ll be graduating: Class of 2024
I am majoring in Art because I had been introduced to it from a professional standpoint in junior year of high school when I had jumped into AP with very little experience. The pressure to produce technically excellent works had elicited an ambition to refine my skills as much as possible and be able to display my work for others in a way that can be universally appreciated.
The kinds of things that inspire me are the works of professional artists who have made a living from producing their own works in a manner that they see fit. In addition to this, the concept of producing works that exceed/meet the quality that can be replicated by photos while incorporating surrealist elements has piqued my interest and brought forth my love for attention to detail.
My favorite class so far was Foundations Seminar as it allows me to introduce others to artists and styles I am passionate about.
When I’m not in class I am doing artwork and expanding my horizon of styles and themes that I can engage in. I’m always looking for new and interesting ways in which I can experiment with color, technique and style. Whether it be delving into new mediums or taking illustrative approaches to my work.
When I graduate, I want to initially become an art teacher at the college level. However, my end goal is to become a freelance artist where I find a means of living off of my own and commissioned works.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because I feel as if the environment is welcoming to a lot of styles and levels of experience. In addition to this the teachers I have this semester are passionate in their profession and provide confidence in one’s abilities as an artist.
The best spot to be on campus is the Learning Commons, it keeps me in a productive mindset.
