I know over the summer a lot of people spend a lot of there time working and some even take summer classes. Both are important, but I also think it’s important to set some time aside to have fun and enjoy the summer while it’s here. This past Sunday on Father’s Day I went with my family to a Met’s game in New York City. It was the perfect day for a ballgame, the sun was out and it was in the low 80’s. Even though the Mets lost I had a great time spending the day with my family and new memories were created.
As an artist traveling and making time to have fun or spend time with family inspires me and influences me greatly. This inspiration often leads to me creating new pieces of work, usually a painting or a drawing.
Besides going to a ballgame there are many other ways to gain inspiration and it doesn’t have to be expensive either. You could go on a camping trip, take a walk, read a new book and find new artists. Those are just a few examples, but there are endless possibilities. Even if you’re not making art in that moment, these activities are still great and will keep your mind fresh. Whatever you decide to do I’m sure it will inspire you and lead to great things including art. 🙂
