So last week I discussed how important it was to get connected with activities and events around you as well as people. I also mentioned the Connect speakers which I’d like to refer back to. Last week, someone asked our speaker, Katie Hatz, what kind of graphic design she did for fun. Her answer was shocking to us all, because she said she doesn’t really do graphic design outside of her work. I feel like I always had this preconceived notion that I always had to be creating things and always had to be flexing my creative muscle. I thought graphic design was it and I was going to be doing it 24/7 for the rest of my life. That’s what I always felt like people were telling me was going to happen. But apparently it’s not true!

Things are a little different in school considering you only have six hours a week for one class and there’s bound to be some work overflow, but remember, it’s never a bad thing to just take a break from creating things every now and then. I find that thought very refreshing and I hope you do too!
