Color has the power to do so many things like create emotion or establish new ideas and inspirations. Whether it is physically placing the colors for a masterpiece or just looking at it and noticing its beauty, the power of color is incredible. With some of the new supplies I received over the holidays, I took some time to test some colors out to see how they related to each other.

Watercolor has always been one of my favorite techniques in painting, not only for its look but also for the movement it creates! I tried blues, purples, greens, pinks, yellows to see the way they mixed together, how they looked next to one another, and how those colors work on different papers! Just creating these swatches in my sketchbook helped me release a lot energy and kept bringing more ideas to the table. Its normal to get new ideas as you work, but these colors were giving me so many to work with. Even such a small activity like mixing your colors and placing them on paper can go such a long way. Its such a great way to prepare yourself for future pieces or just to have some fun and learn about your colors! Not that I did before, but I definitely will NEVER underestimate the power of color and all the opportunities it can bring.
