With the fall semester of my Junior year just around the corner, I have no idea where the summer went, but I’m looking forward to many of the classes I am taking this semester.
For my major, I am taking an art therapy internship class where I hope to get a better idea of where I would like to work after I graduate. The class will allow me to get my feet wet in many different environments to give me a better sense of what I can expect with different age groups and populations. Another class I am excited about is an art history class called Green Piece where I will get the opportunity to explore art through nature and artists that create their work in natural settings as part of the environment. I am also taking Ceramics I because I love love love working with clay. Taking this class puts me at 7 classes this semester, but it is totally worth it to get my hands back into the dirt. In the psychology realm, I am taking an assessment class which discusses different types of assessment. This will be very useful in practicing art therapy. Lastly, I am taking a second art history class online that focuses on Asian art. I’m really looking forward to this class because I have yet had the opportunity to study non-Western art in any art history class, and this class is entirely non-Western art. It will be really neat to study a completely separate timeline of art history.
To fulfill my core requirements, I am taking an ethics class, which will definitely be applicable to art therapy (as well as everyday life). I am also taking my last English class which is called Digital Shakespeare. In this class, we will explore the digital humanities using Romeo and Juliet as a jumping off point. I’ve never studied the digital humanities, so it sounds pretty interesting.
Fingers crossed for a great semester! Good luck to everyone beginning classes in the coming weeks!
Good luck in having a very interesting and successful semester. I love the creativity. Blessings galore, Sr. Mariam Pfeifer, LCAT, MT-BC
