As of September 16, 2023 and through October 21, 2023 there are two new exhibitions now on view and open to the public on Marywood’s campus in Marywood’s galleries!
Firstly, we have The Russell Collection which hosts pieces from a variety of contemporary American artists, several of whom are native to the state of Pennsylvania. This is a rare opportunity to view works from so many artists in one place! There’s also a bit of something for everyone since there are various media used throughout the gallery in nearly every piece.
Gallery Information
Open September 16-October 21, 2023 in the Mahady and Suraci Galleries, located on the first and second floors of the Shields Center for Visual Arts at Marywood University in Scranton, PA
Secondly, we have another show upstairs. The Stories We Tell Ourselves is a solo exhibit of interior architect professor Stephen Garrison’s work. Garrison is a faculty member of Marywood University who was educated at Savannah College of Art and Design. Garrison utilizes anthropomorphic characters throughout the gallery which incorporates themes of mythology, fiction, and iconography. In addition to his paintings, the show includes several meticulously drawn images of origami in graphite. To view Garrison’s artist statement on the exhibit please go here.
