This week I wanted to share something special I made for my grandma because it was her 87th birthday and I’m lucky to have her. So I took my skills that I’ve learned in my jewelry class and made her a pair of earrings. I put copper sheets through a rolling press to get the diamond shaped patterns. To get the the circles I just used a circle punch.
I wanted the circles to have a dome-look to almost look like beads. I used a dapping block to hammer the circular disks into the shape I wanted. A dapping block is a cube with concaved domes of different sizes on it. After I got the desired shape I drilled holes in them so that I could connect them together with links. I really loved doing this project because I got to make them for my grandma and that’s what makes it special.
