Yevgeniya Baras: Visiting Artist

Hi everyone, Marywood University Art Department Distinguished Visiting Artist series presents a lecture by Yevgeniya Baras, an New York painter. The lecture will take place on January 30, 2020 at 3 pm. The lecture will take place in room 106 of the Insalaco Studio Arts Center, there will be a reception following the lecture in the Kresge Gallery. This event is free and open to the public.

Yevgeniya Baras lives and works in Brooklyn NY. She has exhibited her work in several New York City galleries and internationally. She has recieved several awards and grants including the Guggenheim Fellow, the Pollock-Krasner grant, the Chinati Foundation Residency in 2018, and the Yaddo Residency in 2017. Her work has been received in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, ArtForum, and Art in America.

Ms. Baras co-founded and co-curated Regina Rex Gallery on the Lower East Side of New York from 2010 to 2018. She has curated and co-curated more than 20 exhibitions at Regina Rex and other galleries in New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia. Ms. Baras has been teaching painting, drawing, and art drawing to college students for the past 10 years. She is currently teaching at RISD and Sarah Lawrence College.
