A Great Feeling Of Improvement

Howdy!

There are often times when I (and likely many others) feel like they have hit a wall with their art and that there’s no improvement at all…oh boy does that happen to me a lot.

Tying into my last post, you can be staring at a piece for hours and just not end up liking it. And I’ve learned that’s a super normal thing. It can happen for many reasons, mine usually being that I know there’s something wrong, anatomy or composition wise, and I don’t know how to fix it.

I was recently going through my Instagram posts deleting some stuff when I started looking at the current art piece I was working on and then back at my oldest post.

I think looking back at old art and then your new stuff is one of the greatest feelings in the world. I used to know nothing about anatomy, color theory (still learning that one), lighting, and so many other things. Looking at these two got me to start looking at some other pieces.

I love looking at the improvements I made with anatomy and if my younger self was shown my 2026 work in progress piece, I definitely would’ve thought it was done by someone else.

It also greatly excites me that I look at my current level and I just know that, 3 months, a year, five years down the line…I’ll just keeping improving. I’ll look back at this piece and instantly spot things that could be improved. And that’s something I can’t wait to see!

Thanks for reading!!
