Oil Painting

Like last time, I did not finish my birthday piece in time for me having to write this (8/1) but it will be done for my actual birthday! Fingers crossed. Here is the piece from last time, complete and ripped. I accidentally took the tape off too fast and apparently paper is fragile. Who could have guessed?

I decided to do an oil painting this time. I normally hate painting but I have been feeling pretty bored recently with my “normal” art and wanted to experiment while I can!

The one thing I forgot about oil painting was how long it takes to dry. I like to finish one section before moving on to another so this is a difficult task. I keep leaving the piece completely to dry before moving on to other sections because I really just do not like moving all around the piece. Even though I know that’s the technically “correct” way to approach drawings.

Hopefully in two weeks I’ll have this plus another piece done! I finally got a concrete date set for my exhibition – November of this year. So I really have to get faster with these pieces at some point. I’ll most likely begin framing either next month or beginning October and will post about how I go about framing and wiring 20 some pieces!
