What was your favorite part about studying art at Marywood?

I loved all of my art classes.  I had great professors and was introduced to many different art media.

How did your art education at Marywood help your career?

Since I was introduced to so many different areas of art in my classes, I feel that has helped me work with a variety of media with my students.  This can hopefully help them find something that interests them.

Did your career path match your vision of a career path? What’s different?

Yes, Marywood helped me achieve the career I envisioned.  I enjoy sharing my passion for art with my students and teaching them to develop their skills.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite thing about my job is helping my students create art!  I love that they get excited about coming to class and working on their projects!

What is your favorite artistic medium to work with?

My favorite thing to do is paint. I enjoy working outside, painting landscapes, insects, animals, and flowers. I am also very interested in trying things in art I have never done before, which is why I decided to try making my own stained glass windows for my house.

What is your favorite thing about your current job?

My favorite thing about my job is creating art with my students everyday.  I also love the community that I work in.  Dunmore is a very close community, they are very supportive of everything from our sports programs to our art programs.

What are some of the biggest rewards in your career?

The biggest rewards are seeing my students pride in their work. It makes me happy when I see them admiring their work in the hall or showing their friends or parents. It is also rewarding when my students receive awards for their artwork, or decide to pursue art after graduation.

What’s something that would surprise people about your day-to-day?

Something I love to do beside art is running.  I go for a run every other day before work in the morning.

Anything else you’d like to share?

Always try you best and give it your all.

Any advice for current art students at Marywood?

Always make sure you do what you want to do.  As the saying goes…. if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.
