New Year, New Opportunities

I have exciting news to share with you! As of two weeks ago, I am a Communications intern at The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and so far its been a great experience.

If I’m being honest, I wasn’t exactly sure what a Chamber of Commerce was responsible of doing before my first day at The Chamber. After sitting down with the Vice President of Business and Community Development, Kristine Augustine, I realized how much The Chamber actually does.

From leadership programs and networking events to being the parent organization to a number of affiliates, all focused on attracting, growing and sustaining businesses. I now have a better understanding of everything that The Chamber is involved with.

As a double major in Graphic Design and Advertising and Public Relations, the internship with The Chamber is the perfect combination of both disciplines. The internship is very hands on and I’ve spent these past two weeks learning the ropes from the Director of Marketing and Communications, Stephanie Longo.

I’m sure I have a lot left to learn but thanks to this blogging position for the Marywood Art Department and my interactive classes with Sue Jenkins, it’s been a smooth ride so far.
