Now that my time at Marywood is coming to an end, the thought of marketing my work in the real world is starting to hit me.
For many people, a way to get your name out there is by applying to open calls for gallery shows. The process mainly consists of paying a fee depending on the amount of work you want to submit and writing a statement on the work to be shown. After submitting the documents and fees, you sit and wait for the call that your work has or has not been chosen. Paying does not mean that you will have anything chosen in the show. Which, quite frankly, is insane, but a necessary when an abundance of people all apply to one show.
Even talking about the process is starting to even me chills and anxiety on if anything I submit will ever be shown. But, at least the joy of creating art is something that still drives me everyday.
