Comic Character Designing

Hi there!

In my last post I talked about my character Lilac and the 3D animation I made using her. I also briefly mentioned that I wanted to create a comic with her as one of the characters and that’d I’d save talking about that for another day…Well, it’s now another day!

Today I wanted to talk about the two main characters for my comic: To The World’s End With You. I’ve had this story idea for about 4 years, but I was never motivated enough to write it as a web novel and I wasn’t confident enough to draw it out…until now! I recently bought Clip Studio Paint and it has amazing features for making comics!

To The World’s End With You follows two protagonists, Lilac and Lilian. Lilac was left at an orphanage when she was born, and Lilian Rosenquartz is the daughter of a Marquess.

Lilac’s always acted as a big sister to the kids in the orphanage and is constantly looking out for them and making sure they don’t get in trouble. She greatly admires the Monster Slayer Commission and dreams of joining them one day.

Lilian was raised to be nothing short of perfect and is reprimanded by her father when she does even the slightest thing wrong. She often sneaks out at night, seeing what mischief she can get into without anyone from her household noticing.

These two girls fates become intertwined when the city is attacked and taken over by a winged monster never seen before and they run into each other when running out of the city gates. They quickly realize the danger around them is far from over and decide it’s best to travel together.

I loved thinking up the designs for these two! I wanted to do two of my favorite character archetypes: The noble girl who acts pretty wild when possible and the common girl who looks out for those around her. So far I’ve only blocked out their designs and I plan to do line art and coloring for them soon.

I’m going to try to work on the setting more and other stuff for this comic over the summer and hopefully begin working on chapter one!

Thanks for reading and be sure to look out for my next post! I will (hopefully) be sharing some environmental concept art!
