“Non est ad astra mollis e terris via” – Seneca

At one point a while back I wrote a post about wanting to finish this painting. I’m sure that was over a year ago though because that’s when I started it. I never got the chance to finish it because of school, commissions, and my new job. I pushed myself this week on my day off to finish it because I was so close. It took me all day but it’s complete and it was so worth it. It started out as a sketch in my sketch book but then I wanted it to be more than that. The quote is in Latin but it translates to “There is no easy way from the earth to the Stars.” I really love that quote because we have to work hard if we want to be successful, especially in the art field.

I love to use acrylic paint because I find it easy to work with and it’s a lot cleaner. It was easier for me to fix any mistakes or change anything at the last minute. The dry time only took a few minutes because I don’t like to use globs of paint on the canvas. Right now it’s hanging in my room because I love to see it whenever I walk in there. Hopefully I’ll be able to put it in a gallery show at some point!
