Over the past week I have been planning out and working on a few more pattern paintings. I wanted to see if I could work in only sets of complimentary colors. I have finished the purple/ yellow one and I am half way through the orange/ blue one. The green/ red has not been started yet. It is my favorite set of compliments and I am saving the best for last.

When I started planning these paintings I was worried that with only variations of two opposite colors it would be hard to make out the faces because of the high contrast, but I think it has actually gone pretty well on the first one finished. I also thought I would get frustrated with how limited my colors were, but having fewer colors to choose from has actually made the process go much smoother. I have spent much less time thinking about what colors to use for the smaller patterns.
