Every year, Marywood hosts a Foundation Exhibit to show the artwork from the previous year’s art freshman, as we call it the foundation year. The exhibit aims to show art from foundation classes that are produced via freshman. These classes could include basic drawing, three dimensional design, digital design, art history, and an assortment of other classes. At the end of freshman year, faculty reviews freshman portfolios to select potential artwork for this exhibit. This year, the class of 2026’s work will be showcased. A couple of my pieces will be in the exhibit alongside many of my friends and peers’ work.
What I enjoy about these types of exhibits is the ability to gain insight into the interests of artists my age in a variety of fields. I am an illustration major, though many of my friends are not only the same major as me but instead pursue degrees in art therapy. Their perspectives, alongside any artist, always provides a unique outlook to anything their work may have a commentary on or just the perception of artwork in general. I highly recommend checking out the gallery to student artists on campus!
This event is FREE and Open to the Public. All are welcome.
