“If You Feel Too Much”

This week, I started another book to pass the time on my way to work during the week. “If You Feel Too Much” is a story written by Jamie Tworkowski, who is the founder of the TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS organization. TWLOHA is a non-profit organization dedicated to prevent suicide.

Tworkowski began this organization to help his close friend in need who suffered from addiction, suicidal thoughts, and depression.

Goodreads.com says “If You Feel Too Much is a celebration of hope, wonder, and what it means to be human. From personal stories of struggling on days most people celebrate to words of strength and encouragement in moments of loss, the essays in this book invite readers to believe that it’s okay to admit to pain and okay to ask for help. If You Feel Too Much is an important book from one of this generation’s most important voices.”

Throughout studying all the help Art Therapy can give, those who are at risk for self-harm and/or suicide have always gotten to me the most. I really think that this book will help better understand this dark area of life. Some of the thoughts, actions, moods, etc. of those who suffer are extremely hard to understand or comprehend.

I am so excited to read this book and to take a further look into the thoughts of people I may work with in the future. Tworkowski’s portrayal of his experience will be my best friend for the next few days and I can’t wait to see what I discover.
