In the past year I have found a new affinity for sculpture. Particularly I’ve enjoyed creating my illustrations in the round, and seeing them in 3 dimensional space is very satisfying to me. Because of this I’ve been trying to work in the round more on my own, but I haven’t been able to think of a concept to work with. Until last week, that is, when the idea was brought up to me to create some sort of toys or knickknacks that I could hand out as gifts for the coming holiday season. So I’ve been gathering scrap ends of wood and have begun painting with acrylics. I’ve only just started but the first prototype piece came out pretty awesome, so now I going to see what I can do with the rest of the wood and move on from there.
