As a graphic designer, I have always wondered what jobs I could actually get. Graphic design is a huge umbrella, there are many things a designer can do from logos to book covers. You could say there is no limit to what we can do.
Well, a designer may be trained in many things but that can leave students wondering what can they do with all they have learned. If you are designer then you know that with a degree in graphic design, you can get a job in advertising, package design, and even web design.
What you might not know as a designer is that there are many businesses out there. Each business needs an image and a designer can provide that image. Once you know that fact, just look up your favorite brand and search for design jobs for that specific brand. For the longest time, I wanted to work for Google. Every once in a while I would search for design jobs at Google, just to get an idea and to see what they offer. Don’t be afraid to give it a shot.
And for those of you who are looking for a job but don’t want to work for a specific brand, there are ways to find jobs. You can use networking websites like linked.com and dribbble.com. Both are great for access to an unlimited amount of clients.
Keep in mind that everyone needs a designer. Just look into it!
