Over the break, I obviously spent a fair amount of time on the internet. While mindlessly scrolling through one of my apps, I came across an artist named Joshua Smith. He is an artist that enjoys making miniatures, but not the kind that come to mind when a person hears the word “miniatures.”
Joshua Smith makes miniature urban sculptures. His Instagram includes pictures of miniature store-fronts, apartment buildings (with graffiti included), and even little dumpsters with trash bags included.
The works are really incredible. It takes a lot of time and skill to create the pieces that he’s done, and they’re all truly amazing. They’re not doll houses, mansions, or miniature tea shops, but they’re just as beautiful with their graffiti and small details, such as the tabletop lunch of tiny takeout containers.
Joshua Smith has an incredible talent and uses it to his advantage. If you have the time, take a look at his Instagram page that I linked above. They will change what you think of when you hear the word “miniature”.
