Old Mill Village

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a great weekend and to those students reading this, congrats on surviving finals week and welcome home!

With the semester being wrapped up, not a whole lot has gone on this week. However, I did finally make a decision on my next internship. I will be interning with Old Mill Village in the spring. Old Mill Village is a small historical association in New Milford, PA that focuses on local history. They have a small museum of artifacts that is open to visitors as well as hosting various events such as Victorian teas, historical reenactments, ghost walks, and many others.

During my internship, I am going to be in charge of trying to restore the museum into tip-top shape. They currently have a list of items that need to be addressed such as researching artifacts, creating labels for artifacts, creating a catalog and inventory database, preservation, etc. They are also in the process of expanding the collection. They recently acquired a new building which is being renovated in order to become the future gallery of all of their clothing artifacts.

As an arts administration major, it’s ideal to be able to get an internship relative to historical preservation, which is why Old Mill Village is going to be such a great opportunity for me. There are several other historical organizations in the area, but none where I will get a comparable amount of hands on preservation work. I am very excited to get started in a few weeks, and I will be sure to keep you all updated on how it goes!

As always, thank you for the read and have a great week everyone!
