On Campus Art News: Murals

2015 marked the 100th anniversary of Marywood University. To celebrate this milestone, the school replaced the outdated library with a state-of-the-art Learning Commons facility. The new building is complete with a large amount of study rooms, offices, computer stations, a coffee shop/café, and even robotic book storage unit.

In the fall of 2016, graphic designer (and former blogger), Emmanuel “Manny” Adjei and I were approached by the head of the business department and were asked to paint a mural in the newly erected Learning Commons. This was an honor to have our creativity recognized by the Marywood society outside the limits of the art program. This was also a great opportunity to represent the Marywood art community and contribute to the revitalization of our campus. The mural we created is located on the third floor of the Learning Commons.

One of the great benefits of Marywood is that we are well established in the community outside of the university. There are many great opportunities to become connected to in The Electric City. Emmanuel and I have been commissioned for several collaborative mural pieces throughout the Lackawanna county, including the holiday storefront handlettering we did in downtown Scranton, shown below:
