PLANTING FLOWERS TO DECOMPRESS

Hey everyone, I hope you had a good week! Mine was filled with finishing up work for finals and starting a new painting (though that’s not what I’m going to talk about since the painting is a surprise gift for someone).

I drove to my best friend’s house to spend a week with them since I haven’t been there in roughly three months, and yesterday we decided to buy some flowers and ceramic pots to put the flowers in. I’ve been wanting to do that for some time and since the weather was gorgeous out, we drove to a couple garden centers to get some fresh air.

We went to two shops, but the Laurel Oak Garden Center is where I bought the flowers (Riviera Marine Blue) and the Malaysian flower pot. I found the pot first and immediately thought I should find some orange flowers (my visual arts mind immediately thought of the color wheel and complementary colors) but I passed by these little blue flowers and thought the bright green stems were enough to differentiate the flowers from the color of the pot. After all, the design of the pot is calming on its own and ultimately I decided I wanted the retain a sense of calm by choosing blue flowers.

The first shop we went to is where I bought two succulents for my room at home, I’ve also been meaning to buy some of those to go with the decorations in my room. The image on the right-hand side above is a shot of out flower pots together! The front and back left are Akira’s and the one on the right is mine. We had a lot of fun planting these and it was really calming working with soil and just the act of taking care of something is therapeutic itself, I can’t wait to watch them grow!

I hope y’all have a great week, take care!
